Launch of the Restore Bouhlou 1 project
The Restore Bouhlou 1 project was launched to help preserve the Bouhlou river and its biodiversity, in particular the Moroccan mussel (Margaritifera marocana), a critically endangered species endemic to Morocco.
The initiative relies on mobilising local stakeholders and raising citizens’ awareness to protect aquatic ecosystems and preserve water resources over the long term.
The project is built around six complementary workshops: mobilising local stakeholders, training elected officials and managers, cleaning up the river, environmental education in schools, training water users and planting the riverbanks.
Through these actions, AESVT Taza aims to create local momentum for environmental protection and to involve the local community in preserving the natural heritage of Bouhlou.
