Campagne de nettoyage de l’oued Bouhlou

Clean-up campaign along the Bouhlou river

As part of the Restore Bouhlou 1 project, AESVT Taza organised two clean-up campaigns along the Bouhlou river to help preserve this aquatic ecosystem and protect its biodiversity.

The action aims to raise citizens’ awareness of the impact of waste on natural environments, water quality and the species that depend on this environment, especially the freshwater mussel. Preserving the river is vital for local biodiversity, in particular for the Moroccan mussel (Margaritifera marocana), a highly threatened species endemic to Morocco.

The clean-up campaign is part of a collective approach to environmental protection and to mobilising local stakeholders around the sustainable management of natural resources, including the setting up of a public waste disposal site.

Through this initiative, the Restore Bouhlou 1 project encourages responsible behaviour and reminds everyone that protecting rivers requires the commitment of all.
